The We Can Be Association accepts requests for grant funding to assist with expenses that are medically necessary but not covered by other qualified services or insurance.

Grant applications will be accepted starting in January and funds will be distributed in March. Eligible applicants must reside in Eastern, NC and be under the age of 21 years. Please see the three types of grants that can be provided.  

• Therapy Grants: These grants can be both retroactive for unpaid balances at therapy companies or proactively to cover out of pocket therapy expenses. Both will be paid directly to the company. For proactive payouts, any amount of the grant that is not used before the end of therapy will be returned to the WCBA.  Will require a copy of their invoice and/or a copy of the co-pay cost and plan of care.
• Equipment Grants: These grants will be used to cover equipment costs not covered by insurance. We will require a copy of the insurance denial, with any appeals attached, and a letter of medical necessity from the treating therapist.
• Specialty Consideration Grants: Depending on the amount of funds we have to disperse, the WCBA may have funds allotted for specialty considerations. This may include, but are not limited to, surgeries or hospitalizations due to the nature of their diagnoses.

Funds will be distributed based on availability and discretion of the WCBA board members.
